Therapeutic Massage

Massage or body work has many benefits aside from pure relaxation, which in itself has a great therapeutic value. Massage will relieve muscle stiffness and soreness, improve circulation and lymphatic flow, and promote tissue repair after injury. Regular massage plays an important role in reducing stress and increasing general well-being.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese system of medicine involving the stimulation of specific points on the body to enhance the flow of vital energy (qi) along the pathways called meridians. By stimulating these points with needles, the qi is activated to correct the imbalances that cause illness. Acupuncture can be applied for numerous health ailments and can help to promote a general sense of emotional and physical wellbeing. It can treat specific disorders to relieve symptoms and help reduce complications and recurrence or it can be used for the maintenance treatment of a long term problem to help reduce the need for medication or surgery.

The acupuncturist may assess for example, that a women's uterus may be in a ‘cold' state that may manifest as menstrual irregularity, pelvic inflammation, abnormal vaginal discharge, depressed liver function, and so on. Treatment may in this instance be focused on stimulating the various points needed to re-balance the menstrual hormones, strengthen the kidney function and improve blood and energy flow, to nourish the uterus. This can assist in the ‘absorption' of the yang energy of the sperm in enhancing conception.

The number of treatments depends on the duration and intensity of your present disorder. Age, constitution and individual circumstances are taken into account and a time-frame is usually given within the first few treatments.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic, non-invasive and gentle therapy which compliments other therapies and modern medicine. It is a form of body work that uses pressure techniques on the feet to promote health and balance in the physical, mental, emotional and energetic levels of the body.

The theory behind Reflexology is there are areas on the feet that correspond to specific organs, glands and other parts of the body, and the stimulation of these areas assist with clearing blockages, allowing the flow of energy to be restored.

According to medical research carried out on complementary therapies, Reflexology has shown promising results with fertility problems, such as encouraging relaxation, reducing stress levels and eliminating toxins to name a few.

Reflexology is also very beneficial for pregnant women. It can help with some of the following effects that may occur during pregnancy: back ache, morning sickness, stress, swollen ankles and legs, fatigue, constipation and cramps.

Research has shown that women who have regular Reflexology treatments during pregnancy have shorter labors than those who don't.

Sessions usually last an hour. However, this is subject to the age and state of health of the recipient.

Reiki

Reiki is the Japanese word for universal life force energy. It is an ancient approach in which the practitioner is a kind of healer in the sense that he or she serves as a conduit for healing energy coming from the universe.

The Reiki energy enters the practitioner through the top of the head and exits through the hands, being directed into the body or energy field of the recipient.

Reiki is another very subtle form of healing and may be done through clothing and without any contact between the practitioner and client.

A state of relaxation combined with a general feeling of well-being is usually the most noticeable immediate effect of treatment although emotional releases can also occur.

Doctors consider that it may be helpful to some people because it stresses the importance of a positive outlook on life.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy was developed by Samuel Hahnemann in the 1800s. He believed in the healing philosophy, of 'like cures like'. Homeopathy is world renowned for its gentle yet highly effective ability to stimulate the body's vital force to heal itself. Even the royal family are advocates of this treatment of disease and have their own appointed Homeopath.

Like flower essences, homeopathy is a vibrational medicine which uses minute doses of a substance to resonate with and stimulate healing. It it also safe for pregnant women and children, and acts on the whole person to heal physical, emotional and spiritual issues.
